Thyristors - DIACs, SIDACs
DIAC (Double-ended bidirectional trigger diode) is a non-polar semiconductor device that has the same characteristics at forward and reverse voltages. DIAC is mainly used to trigger SCR or other phase controlled devices, when the applied voltage reaches its threshold voltage, DIAC will be switched on and make the current increase rapidly, thus triggering the phase controlled device. SIDAC (Silicon bidirectional trigger Diode) is similar to DIAC, but with added temperature compensation and higher trigger voltage stability. SIDAC is also used for triggering thyristor isopexes, but is designed to maintain consistent triggering performance at different temperatures.

Thyristors - DIACs, SIDACs: DIAC (double-ended bidirectional trigger diode) is often used in the startup circuit of SCR because of its trigger characteristics, to help SCR transition from the blocking state to the on-state, to achieve accurate control of alternating current. DIAC is also used in lighting dimming systems, motor speed control, and solid-state relays as a key trigger element. SIDAC is used in power management and temperature control system because it is used as a switch directly. For example, when the power supply is started, SIDAC (silicon bidirectional trigger diode) can sense the rise in voltage and automatically turn on the circuit, avoiding the delay and unreliability of traditional mechanical switches. At the same time, SIDAC is also used in overvoltage protection circuit, when the voltage is abnormally increased, SIDAC will quickly turn on, bypass the excess energy, and protect the subsequent circuit from damage.
