MAXIM MAX30100 and ESP32 build a pulse oximete

Jinftry will introduce the specific models and application scenarios of MAX30100EFD in detail.

A pulse oximeter is a widely used medical measuring instrument, it is a non-invasive and painless test that measures the oxygen saturation level in our blood, making it easy to detect small changes in oxygen. In the current Covid-19 situation, it has become important to remotely track the oxygen levels of multiple patients simultaneously without patient contact.

So, in this project, we used the MAX30100+T pulse oximeter and ESP32 to build a pulse oximeter that will track blood oxygen levels and send data over the internet by connecting to a Wi-Fi network. This way, we can monitor multiple patients remotely by maintaining social distancing from the patient. The acquired data will be displayed as a graph, making it easy to track and analyze the patient's condition.
In addition to Covid-19 applications, the project can be widely used for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pneumonia, lung cancer, anemia, heart attack or heart failure, or congenital heart defects.
Please note that the sensors used in this project have not been medically evaluated and this project has not been tested for fail-safe applications. Always use a medical-grade pulse oximeter to determine the patient's pulse and oxygen levels and discuss it with your doctor. The items discussed here are for educational purposes only.
MAX30100 Sensor
The MAX30100 sensor is an integrated pulse oximeter and heart rate monitoring module. It communicates with the I2C data line and provides SpO2 and pulse information to the host microcontroller unit. It uses photodetectors, optics, where red, green IR LEDs modulate the LED pulses. LED current can be configured from 0 to 50mA. The figure below shows the MAX30100 sensor
The above sensor modules operate in the 1.8V to 5.5V range. Pull-up resistors for the I2C pins are included in the module.
