1. What is a rectangular connector?
A rectangular connector is a connector with a basically rectangular shape and a basically rectangular mating surface. It is also an important category in the connector family. There are many varieties and specifications, and it is also widely used. It should be pointed out that the classification of rectangular connectors and printed circuit board connectors, strip connectors, and ribbon cable connectors is sometimes not strictly defined. For the same type of connector, some manufacturers classify it as a rectangular connector (approximately rectangular in shape), some as a printed circuit board connector (used in printed circuits), some as a strip connector (approximately long in shape), and some as a ribbon cable connector (connected with a ribbon cable). 3. Rectangular connector usage environment?
1. Ambient temperature: refers to the use within the ambient temperature specified by the product. Even if the external ambient temperature is not high, if the product works in the chassis, the heat dissipation conditions are poor and the heating of other components will cause the ambient temperature of the product to be much higher than the external ambient temperature. Using it beyond the specified ambient temperature can also damage the metal plating or insulator.
2. Humidity or water: Humidity or water will form a water film on the surface of the insulator, which will reduce the insulation performance and even cause miscommunication between adjacent contact parts. Generally, connectors that are used in high humidity or water conditions for a long time should use sealing connectors.
3. Low air pressure: The air pressure will decrease under high altitude conditions (except in a constant air pressure sealed chamber). When the product is under low air pressure conditions, the dielectric withstand voltage of the product will decrease. If the transmitted voltage is higher than the requirements of the product technical conditions, electrical breakdown may occur, causing failure.
4. Corrosive environment: refers to the atmosphere around the product when it is working, such as salt spray at sea, acid and alkali in chemical raw material storage warehouses, etc. These conditions will cause corrosion and erosion to the metal parts and insulators of the connector. When selecting connectors, special requirements can be made to the manufacturer or products that can meet these requirements can be selected.
5. Mechanical conditions: refers to mechanical effects such as vibration, impact, acceleration, etc., and are selected according to the parameters in the micro-rectangular connector sample. In fact, in actual use, the cable and the contact should be crimped and fixed with a wire clamp or other means. Cables that are too long and have no fixing measures will endanger the safety of the cable under the action of external forces such as vibration or impact. In severe cases, it will cause cable breakage and micro-rectangular connector damage. -
