1. What is a D-SUB connector
The name of the D-SUB connector comes from the D-shaped appearance of its plug. It is a double-row cable connector widely used in computer, industrial automation and communication fields. This connector consists of two parts: a plug and a socket. It is connected through pinholes and pins. It can transmit video, audio and digital signals and provide a large number of grounding points.
The D-SUB connector is a compact and versatile connector mainly used to support power, analog, RF or digital signal transmission. It has a variety of models, options and accessories and is a very economical interconnection solution. -
2. Classification of D-SUB connectors
Solder cup D-Sub connector: This connector meets commercial industrial standards and can be paired with any docking solder cup D-Sub connector. The contacts are electroplated with flash gold, and the connector insulator meets the UL94V-0 standard. The maximum wire size is 20 AWG, and 9, 25, 37 and 50 pin specifications are available.
Crimp D-Sub connector: Crimp D-Sub connectors meet commercial industrial standards and can be used for most standard D-Sub male connectors. Compatible with 20-28 AWG wire range, available in 9, 15, 25 and 50 pin sizes.
Punch-type D-Sub connector: This connector is easily soldered into the through-hole of the printed circuit board or used in many other applications. Solder placement follows a standard footprint, and gold-plated contacts ensure long life. As an industrial standard commercial DB37 female PCB type connector, it has standard mounting holes for application flexibility. -
3. Problems caused by poor contact of D-SUB connectors
Performance: increased contact resistance, circuit breakage, contact curtain movement, etc.
Causes: inadequate connection, insufficient contact area, dirt, corrosion, oxidation, etc.
Solution: Re-plug the connector, clean the connection part (use alcohol or other cleaning agents), replace the contact or connector. -
4. D-SUB connector insulation is poor
Performance: short circuit, insulation resistance is too poor.
Cause: high humidity in the use environment, serious pollution, water or other liquids penetrate into the insulator, etc.
Solution: Improve the use environment, clean the inside of the insulator, and replace the insulator.
