Thyristors - TRIACs

TRIAC (Triode for Alternating Current), also known as bidirectional thyristor or three-terminal bidirectional AC switch, is a four-layer semiconductor device with three PN junctions. It has three terminals: two main terminals (MT1 and MT2) and a gate (G). The TRIAC can operate at forward or reverse voltage, and when the gate receives a trigger signal, the TRIAC switches on, allowing current to flow between the two main terminals. This bidirectional nature makes TRIAC ideal for power control in AC circuits.
