The LM2596 voltage regulator/lm2596 buck converter is a monolithic integrated circuit that provides all active functions for a step-down switching regulator capable of driving a 3A load with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in 3.3V, 5V, 12V fixed output voltage and adjustable output voltage versions. These regulators require few external components, are simple to use, and feature internal frequency compensation and a fixed frequency oscillator. The LM2596 family operates at a switching frequency of 150kHz, allowing filter components to be smaller than those required by lower frequency switching regulators. Available in a standard 5-pin TO-220 package with several different lead-bend options, as well as a 5-pin TO-263 surface-mount package,

MP1584EN: This is a Step-Down Switching Regulator manufactured by Monolithic Power Systems. Its input voltage range and output voltage range are larger than LM2596.


DESCRIPTION The MP1584 is a high frequency step-down switching regulator with an integrated internal high-side high voltage power MOSFET. It provides 3A output with current mode control for fast loop response and easy compensation. The wide 4.5V to 28V input range accommodates a variety of step-down applications, including those in an automotive input environment. A 100μA operational quiescent current allows use in battery-powered applications. High power conversion efficiency over a wide load range is achieved by scaling down the switching frequency at light load condition to reduce the switching and gate driving losses. The frequency foldback helps prevent inductor current runaway during startup and thermal shutdown provides reliable, fault tolerant operation. By switching at 1.5MHz, the MP1584 is able to prevent EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) noise problems, such as those found in AM radio and ADSL applications. The MP1584 is available in a thermally enhanced SOIC8E package

LM2576: The LM2576xx series is a step-down switching regulator manufactured by National Semiconductor (now acquired by Texas Instruments), which has similar functions to the LM2596, but may have better performance than the LM2596 in some applications.

AMS1117: This is a Low Dropout Linear Regulator manufactured by Advanced Monolithic Systems. Although it works differently than the LM2596 (it's a linear regulator rather than a switching regulator), it can replace the LM2596 in many applications.
