The MAX20754 can be configured with a multi-phase power controller for use with Maxim's dual Powertrain integrated power stage, and is designed for communication and network applications. The MAX20754 can generate six pulse-width modulation outputs or "phases", with a configurable number for each output channel. This configuration supports high current requirements and one or two output voltages.
Maxim Integrated MAX20754 multi-phase power controller is a multi-function device, integrated switching regulator, can provide power for the controller and power section devices. Maxim MAX20754 provides accurate load current reports, power section temperature monitoring, fault detection and extensive support for PMBus commands. Users can save PMBus parameters to non-volatile memory through MAX20754.

The MAX20754 controller is very flexible and can be used with traditional discrete inductors or coupled inductor topologies. Coupled inductors can reduce the effective inductor value and size without increasing the ripple current, reduce the required output capacitance, and improve transient response.

MAX20754 adopts Maxim's advanced modulation scheme, compared with traditional pulse width modulation control, provides excellent transient response and reduces the required output capacitance. If a strictly fixed frequency PWM operation is required, AMS can be disabled.
